Bringing MSME finance training to you

MSME financing is a challenge. Our training aims to equip you with the understanding required to navigate this challenge. We provide insight about crucial problems such as – How and what to do to access credit and subsequently maintain credit and credibility? This training is designed to cater to a variety of different clients and experiences, ultimately equipping you with domain level knowledge of MSME financing and how to become a bankable partner for the banking community.

MSMEs push growth

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) form the backbone of the economy in many countries around the world including India, facilitating inclusive growth and diverse entrepreneurship at the most fundamental of levels. The estimated number of MSMEs is 630 lakh with a share in the GDP being 28%. Around 30 lakh of these MSMEs are run partially or fully by female entrepreneurs. MSMEs manufacture over 6000 products (in the areas of apparel, food and beverages, furniture, metal, textiles etc) and generate employment opportunities in India for around 100 million people. Businesses in the micro sector account for around 97% of the total employment provided by MSMEs. Infosys, Reliance, Tata and Birla were once MSMEs.

Why is this training needed?

“While different funding avenues are available for MSMEs, a lack of awareness and a gap in proper handholding for entrepreneurs are the key reasons behind the sector’s existing financial woes” – Economic Times

Navigating the banking community and the lack of access to finance proves to be one of the biggest issues MSMEs face. Should they access the finance they invariably land up in a financial mess owing to lack of knowledge on maintaining the finance in the best possible manner. Numerous other problems arise such as high cost of credit or accessing the various central and state government credit and financial assistance schemes provided to MSME entrepreneurs. Understanding this financial environment and the different avenues of funding available could be the making or breaking point for start-ups as well as larger MSMEs.

“An International Finance Corporation-Intellecap report pegs the credit gap (for MSMEs) at a humongous Rs 16.66 lakh crore“.

This credit gap is one of the many reasons that spell out the need for the banking community to increase interaction with MSMEs. It is in this effort that we provide specialized training programs in MSME financing to the banking sector as a connect topic with their customers. Increasing this aspect of connectivity between the banks and the customers through the dissemination of domain level knowledge covering MSME financing is beneficial for the banking community as a whole. The training of these bank customers allows client businesses to grow and prosper through this increased bank and customer connectivity.

Engaging effectively with entrepreneurial MSME owners is a challenge considering the complex environment in which they have to perform. There are also no shortage of financial problems to be faced by them.

Training these owners in coordination with the institutions that provide services for the MSME sector is a priority task for us. This includes institutions/bodies such as the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), industrial departments of state governments and various MBA institutes.

Through the training we pass on our expertise about this rapidly expanding area of the economy and in turn we all become part of the process to ensure that the growth of MSMEs achieves its true potential in India.
